Shardeum is live with a unique campaign called ‘Proof of Keys Airdrop’ program. This is inspired by Trace Mayer’s original ‘Proof of Keys’ campaign for Bitcoin, that helped cement the now-iconic principle of self-custody: ‘Not your keys, not your crypto.’

The purpose of this airdrop program is to reward wallets that demonstrate self-custody over a 30-day period while promoting the core ethos of decentralization including, financial sovereignty and permissionless access. Instructions for the Program

Participating in the Proof of Keys Airdrop program is simple – follow the on-screen steps on the program page and we’ll guide you through the process. Be sure to read these instructions carefully to be considered for the airdrop.

• Users must hold SHM in a self-custodial wallet (e.g., MetaMask). Custodial/exchange wallets are not eligible.
• We recommend completing your program registration from a desktop browser for the best experience.
• This program has limited capacity. Once we reach the maximum number of eligible wallets or participants, registrations will be closed.
• A minimum balance of 100 SHM is required to qualify for the program.
• For fairness, wallets earning over 1,000 USDC in SHM rewards may be asked to complete KYC.
• Decide how much SHM you want to hold over the 30-day holding period. Your rewards will be considered and calculated based on the lowest SHM balance held in your wallet during this period
• Once you have the desired amount in your wallet, you can proceed to register for this program. Eligibility begins at registration, and your balance at that time will count toward the airdrop. Note, you’re free to use your SHM during the holding period – the two examples below show how balance changes may impact your airdrop.

FAQ

1. I’m currently running a node on Shardeum. Can I participate in the Proof of Keys Airdrop as well?

Yes, you can participate in both. However, SHM staked for running your node won’t count toward this airdrop program. To qualify, you’ll need to hold additional SHM in your self-custodial wallet specifically for the program.

2. How much SHM can I expect to receive from this airdrop?

Rewards are calculated based on the lowest SHM balance held in your wallet over the 30-day period. Here are a few examples for guidance:

• If your lowest balance is 500 SHM → you may receive up to up to 50 SHM
• If your lowest balance is 5,000 SHM → you may receive up to 500 SHM
• If your lowest balance is 25,000 SHM → you may receive up to up to 2500 SHM

3. When and how will I receive my airdrop?

The distribution schedule for airdrop will be communicated in an upcoming update. Do note that, Shardeum may request KYC verification from wallets receiving SHM airdrop exceeding 1,000 USDC in value to ensure fairness and prevent abuse.
