Shardeum to Pause Token-Only Network and Launch EVM Mainnet

Shardeum’s current token-only network will pause at block 2,639,029 on October 28, 2025 at 04:30 AM UTC. The network will migrate to the new EVM mainnet, with the SHM redenomination (1:240 split) taking effect at block 2,639,030 on October 30 at 04:30 AM UTC approximately. Once the migration is complete and the EVM mainnet is live, SHM balances will automatically update — both on-chain and across supported exchanges — to reflect the 1:240 redenomination.

Temporary Trading Pause

Exchanges trading SHM have confirmed their support for this migration. Deposits, withdrawals, and trading will be temporarily paused during the transition and will resume once each exchange completes the upgrade by October 31st tentatively.

Guidance for Validators

This migration also applies to validators currently running nodes. As a best practice, validators should back up the private key or seed phrase of the wallet used for staking. This ensures you can always access your SHM once balances are returned and redenominated. And here are two options validators have at their disposal:

  • Option 1 (Preferred): Unstake Now – Validators may choose to stop their nodes and unstake before 03:00 AM UTC on October 28. This allows you to see your full SHM balance (including rewards) reflected in your staking account/wallet ahead of the network pause.
  • Option 2: Do Nothing – If you continue running your node, it will stop automatically once the network pauses. Any staked tokens and unclaimed rewards will then be returned to your staking account/wallet on EVM mainnet and redenominated at 1:240 ratio.

In both cases, your funds remain safe, and no additional action is required once the migration completes. Instructions for setting up validator nodes on the Shardeum EVM mainnet will be shared soon.

We thank our community and ecosystem partners for their continued support as we move toward the Shardeum EVM mainnet launch. Stay tuned to Shardeum’s official channels, including Discord, for more updates.
