Shardeum Meetups to Onboard 10,000 Mainnet Users

We’re thrilled to announce #MyFirstSHM meetups, our exciting new Proof of Community (PoC) campaign aimed at onboarding 10,000 real users onto the Shardeum mainnet over the next one year. Shardeum’s flagship PoC has educated over 28,000 participants across 22 countries and 205 cities through 500+ immersive blockchain workshops and meetups.

With the mainnet now live, Shardeum has demonstrated that transaction fees remain consistently under $0.01 with instant transfers - no matter the transaction volume or amount.

Having established the foundation, we’re now putting the power in the hands of the community – through meetups led and attended by everyday users like you. This PoC meetup campaign empowers local leaders and organizers to onboard users through tangible on-chain experiences with SHM and the Shardeum network. Together, we’ll solve one of the long-standing problems plaguing the Payment Finance (PayFi) ecosystem: enabling fast, borderless, and ultra-low-cost payments at a global scale.

#MyFirstSHM: Participant Benefits at Shardeum Meetups

Every participant receives 1 SHM (Shardeum’s native token) during the event to foster real-time interactions, learning, and fun. Meetups will feature interesting activities such as:

• Blockchain 101: A clear introduction to blockchain principles and how Shardeum uniquely solves scalability problems, and maintains ultra low fees.
• Interactive Demos: Participants set up wallets, connect to Shardeum blockchain network, and explore micro-payment use cases.
• Hands-on Activities: The meetups will be designed to offer the following hands-on experiences:
  • Transfer SHM: Participants will learn how to send SHM to others on-chain and track the transaction in real time—viewing details such as the timestamp, transaction fee, recipient address, and network status for full transparency.
  • Peer-to-Peer Gifting: Participants gift tokens to peers for collaboration or networking with a lucky draw at the end.
  • Micro-Payments & Tips: Attendees can tip speakers or peers for valuable insights using small amounts of SHM. Exceptional questions during the event may also be rewarded with SHM tokens.
  • On-site Purchases from Just 0.1 SHM: Participants will experience real-world blockchain utility by using SHM to buy swag and snacks starting at just 0.1 SHM.
  • Voting & Governance: Idea-pitch sessions where participants vote using SHM (where 1 vote = ~0.1 or ~0.2 SHM).
  • Community Pool Donations: Contribute fractional SHM to a local “community pool” wallet funding future events or hackathons or for any good cause.

The Road to 10,000: How Will We Do It?

Starting June 19, 2025, we’ll kick off this year-long educational meetup tour in countries like India, Nigeria, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Kenya, and Ghana – with additional regions to follow. Shardeum aims to host 10 to 15 meetups per month, allowing for sustained, high-frequency community engagement and measured onboarding momentum across regions.

Each event targets students, developers, and blockchain enthusiasts eager to experience firsthand how blockchain, and especially Shardeum, can improve lives of everyday users, while highlighting the significance of on-chain transactions that rely on code rather than a central authority.

Host Benefits for Organizing Meetups

Each meetup is supported by a host enablement package for the meetup hosts that includes a playbook, presentation materials, and tutorial videos, to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability at every touchpoint. It’s that easy!!

In return, meetup hosts will be eligible for the following incentives:

• Fixed SHM Grant: A fixed SHM grant for successfully hosting meetups and workshops.
• Performance-based Bonuses: Additional rewards will be given for contributions like high-quality deliverables, content creation, community engagement, top ambassador performance, successful referrals, and more.
