Committer of the Month – Janathi Layanga, Finance Analyst

In our latest edition of ‘About Shardeum Team‘, we have Janathi Layanga, who is also the committer for the month of August 2024.

Janathi is a finance professional with over seven years of experience across various industries, ranging from early-stage startups to multinational banks. After being transitioned into the blockchain arena, she is currently working as a financial analyst at Shardeum. Outside of work, Janathi loves interior design, traveling and content creation. And she is always eager to explore new experiences.

Jereme/Will: What are you helping to build at Shardeum?

Janathi: As a financial analyst, I collaborate closely with our finance director, Rashmi. My primary role involves analyzing financial data to support Shardeum’s business decisions. I also focus on optimizing financial processes to enhance performance of business operations and short to medium term operational strategy.

Jereme/Will: What sets Shardeum apart?

Janathi: Shardeum stands out due to its innovative technology and strong community focus. We have a unique culture where we say, “Community is the CEO,” highlighting the importance of our community’s input and engagement in everything we do. We pride ourselves on being welcoming and encouraging people from all backgrounds to join us. Inclusivity is a core value at Shardeum.

We really believe in concepts like “Anyone can run a node” and “Shardeum is Borderless.” For example, our community translates our monthly community updates into local languages, making Shardeum accessible to all. Not to forget our diverse team who are dedicated to make Shardeum truly unique.

Jereme/Will: How can our community members help Shardeum?

Janathi: Our community is the heart and soul of Shardeum. We believe in the power of collective effort and actively involve our community in every aspect of our growth. Whether it’s helping design our logos or naming our test networks, we seek and value their input. We encourage them to share their ideas, provide feedback, and participate in testing and community-building activities. By engaging with the newcomers, spreading the word about Shardeum, and contributing with their unique perspectives, they help shape the future of the project and ensure it continues to thrive. Their participation and feedback are invaluable to us.

Jereme/Will: What was your journey into Web3?

Janathi: I’ve always been interested in crypto and blockchain. After being in banking and other industries, my journey into working in Web3 started a few years ago. My previous role in Web3 was in AR and VR, but now I’ve finally transitioned into building a core blockchain protocol.

This journey has not only been a professional milestone but also a personal achievement. My passion for economics and treasury led me here, and being a part of the digital currency revolution is a dream come true. Being part of Shardeum, getting to work on transformative technologies and contribute to shaping the future of finance has been a fulfilling experience.
